How to Make Soap in a Blender!

Soap Samples

Making Soap in a Blender has a few advantages - shorter trace, fats and oils can be used at room temps, no thermometers, smoother mixture and a creamier soap bar!

One of the disadvantages, is that you can only make a small batch of soap. But, here are the steps:

Step One

Choose a recipe that is only a one-pound batch.  Dissolve the lye in cold water and wait till it cools and the lye-water mixture turns clear.

Step Two

Pour the melted oils and then the lye/water solution into the blender being careful to not splash or spill the lye water.

Step Three

With the blender in locked position, and the cover very secure, place a towel over the top of the blender for added safety. turn the blender on its LOWEST speed. This is definitely one of those times you want to make sure you wear your goggles! You can stop the blender ever few minutes, watching for what we call a 'thin' trace. It will just begin to thicken

Step Four

At thin trace, you can add your essential oils, colorants or fragrances. This is also a good time to add your herbs, oatmeal or other ingredients. Blend just a few seconds and then your done!

Step Five

Now all you have to do is pour the soap into molds. Cover it with a towel for insulation and let the soap set for at least 24 hours and then pop out of mold. Again, you can put it in the freezer for an hour or so if its hard to get out of the molds. Let the soap age for about  three weeks before using.

That's all there is to Blender Soap!
